Version 5

The approach of Ayurvedic Medicine is to bring us into harmony with nature and the natural rhythm within our bodies through a balanced connection to food, lifestyle, plant medicine, healthy movement (proper exercise, yoga, dance) and the life principles of Ayurveda. Each one of these avenues is a gateway to deeper connection to our innate nature and understanding our Elemental Biology. Through refining and balancing the 5 elements of Air, Fire, Water, Earth and Space, mind and body come into harmony and we experience greater vitality moving into our full potential of who we were born to be.

Mira's Story

Mira Murphy began her journey with yoga, growing up as the daughter of world-renowned yoga teacher Rama Jyoti Vernon who has initiated yoga organizations, the yoga journal and conflict resolution, based on yogic philosophy, worldwide.

In 2005, Mira completed her 200-hour yoga training at 7 Center’s Yoga Arts, where she had her first in depth exposure to Ayurveda. She began her journey of Ayurvedic studies which led her to India to meet with doctors of Ayurvedic, Tibetan, Siddha and Unani medicine as well as tribal healers of India.

In 2007, she moved to Sedona, Arizona to work as the Ayurvedic chef at 7 Center’s Yoga arts where she cooked for yoga trainings and retreats for 6 years. In addition to cooking and running the kitchen, she taught classes in Ayurveda and Ayurvedic cooking, led herb walks, gave nutritional consultations, lectures in the community, and taught yoga. She has traveled to cook in Hawaii, Spain and various places within the mainland US.

With her passion to share knowledge of the healing foods, she has guided many apprentices in cooking, teaching them Ayurvedic principles of food and nutrition. She nurtured many yoga students through deep transformative work and assisted many through healing crises using foods, spices, herbs and aromatherapy as well as her loving presence.

In 2013, she began formal study of Ayurveda to deepen her knowledge of the medical and clinical aspects of Ayurveda. She moved to Albuquerque, NM to study at the Ayurvedic Institute with Dr. Vasant Lad. She completed the full 2 year program and returned for Graduate Clinic, more advanced clinical training and mentorship.

Currently, she is helping her mom write a commentary on the Yoga Sutras and will be travelling soon to the Middle East to teach Yoga and Ayurveda. She travels to teach Ayurvedic workshops, Belly Dance/Yoga workshops, cook for retreats, and offers Ayurvedic consultations in person or through Skype or phone.
